GOLDRUNWAY GR5X burned RLC3 repair

GOLDRUNWAY GR5X is a sophisticated AUXILLIARY lights common on sportsbike and adventure bikes that lights up your road further during extreme conditions. It is expensive, but needless to say it do fail overtime.

A client sent me his unit for troubleshooting because of his RLC3 smoked.

In that video with that smoke, it means there is something wrong with the unit already and in need of repair. But is it repairable?

After receiving it. Now let us tear it down. Opening the unit is not easy. The casing is somehow glued inside and the only means of dismantling it is totally wrecking the case.

So i cut it in half just to fry it open and access the internal board with rubber epoxy putty covering the inside.

Scraping the rubber putty exposing the internal board showing the damage. THE BOARD is totalled.

And with that kind of damage, but seems impossible to repair but that is why I am here to make the impossible. All i need is to fabricate another board that will replace the burned board.

There are missing few components for sure by the looks of it thus creating a schematic out of the remaining visible part is needed to further know what those missing parts are. A handy PROTEUS SIMULATION software is needed.

By creating a schematic and simulating it using that software, i was able to determine the missing part. There after the cloning of a new board begin.

Using DIPTRACE.

Board is double sided top and bottom.

After plotting, comes toe old school laser toner transfer to blank pcb, etching and final pcb rises
after securing all components and populating the board.

time to reassemble everything and test.
two board are now connected. TESTING the item
