How to compensate for the loss of charge when using HID system?...The answer, by converting the original half wave system into a full wave generator, by altering the winding of the generator inside the crankcase. Looking at the graph of each type below.
By analyzing each of the graph generated by such system, it is very obvious that the full wave 3P when rectified and filtered produces a clean stable dc, that is why many sportsbike and higher displacement machine uses this kind of system. But why do they not used this on smaller bikes like moped and scooters.
Probably because of COST and size of the system. that is why manufacturers, instead relied on the low cost smaller size half wave generator system for carbureted type small machines. We cannot denied the fact, low cost means limited function.
Fuel injected nowadays been incorporated to small bikes like Shogun FI, honda scoopy I, and almost but not all bikes in thailand uses FI uses the three phase system already, so fitting HID system is of no trouble.
But how about to carbureted type?
It can be done, again by changing and converting it to full wave system to generate a more stable dc that will charge the onboard battery and compensate the losses done by the HID system..
FURTHERMORE, never insist the half wave system is enough for hid installation. It is simply not enough even if upgrading to a larger battery capacity.
Disclaimer: I will not held responsible if something goes wrong upon using this conversion without enough knowledge of how the system works, and electrical / technical skills at hand.. BE ADVISED that this modification is not intended for beginner or first time doing it.
Getting deeper.
Materials needed.
- full wave rectifier / regulator (known as R / R too many) like this Full wave regulator 5 wire
- soldering iron at least 50-100watts
- high temp insulator tube
- OPTIONAL : New crankcase cover gasket (when returning the modified stator and placing the cover back to the engine)
- A digital or analog multimeter (tester too many)
IT is time to rock!!!
Remove the left crankcase cover to gain access on the stator
This stator is from a Suzuki SKYWAVE 125cc, same with shogun FD125XRM and Shogun FL125. There are three wire soldered to its connector base, find the ground by using a mutimeter set to OHMS , connect the black probe to the stator body and red probe to any of the three soldered wires.
The one with the lowest reading of the three is the wire connected directly to ground, with the highest being the end of the winding that will be used later, the last winding will not be used since it is the lighting coil output and will be disregarded all through out the procedure.
Remove the soldered wire to the stator body to FLOAT all windings...(all windings must not touch the body of the stator, full wave will have its own ground via the BRIDGE rectifier of the FULL wave regulator.)
FOR SHOGUN its the yellow wire with white strip.
For other brand..please follow your wiring diagram.
what we trying to do here is getting the two end of the stator winding and removing the GROUND from the stator body as shown on the illustration.
when done, first is first..check for continuity and resistance of the whole winding before returning back the cover to ensure everything done is OK!!
Getting ready to wire the regulator from the modified generator
It is very difficult to know if the purchased R/R is a half wave or full wave if check only by appearance although manufacturers uses color coded wire like the photo shown, perhaps by using a diode tester (multimeters) and check every wire, we might be able to distinguished them. As i had told you, there are 4 pin and 5pin full wave available out in the market. If in a way you find such like as shown then probability is they are the same.
By following the color of the wires
- Green -- ground
- Red -- to battery positive line
- Yellow -- to charging coil (any of the two winding out from the stator)
- Pink --- to charging coil (interchangeable with yellow)
- Black --- To after ignition key switch
TESTING
To be sure and safe, for this test use appropriate FUSE within the positive line going to the battery. its the last line of defense when it comes to possible wrong connection.
Disconnect all loads from the battery, if you have access to another way of supplying your CD ignition then do so..because we have to start the engine to perform TEST. with the help of the multimeter set to DC voltage. tap it to the battery that is connected to the regulator..
GREEN to black probe
RED to red probe
check voltage....you are reading the battery voltage, on the ignition key and take a look at value, after turning on the key engine OFF, the voltage must not be dropping and stay close to the initial reading.
kick the KICK starter, and stay it at idle, monitor the voltage. READING must now be moving up possible to 13 volts or 14 volts..(depends on the condition of the battery)..
SLOWLY REV the engine while monitoring the voltage reading of the tester.....
as you are revving the engine..voltage must stay close to 15 volts not over 16 volts (overcharging threshold of lead acid battery)..
if all test performed are ok with regulator not to temperature....PUT a load on the battery such as your HID installed...then start the SAME TEST again...
at first when you turn on the High intensity discharge system..at IDLE the voltage must not be dropping and will stay close to 12-13 volts..
if it is, then the system is already working..By looking at the graph above..FULL wave due to the better DC filtering, at idle or low rpm still charging the battery unlike the HALF wave where in the dc is fluctuating.
Full wave also has a better shunting than half wave to the configuration of the rectifying diodes.
NOW u can enjoy your HID system, just make sure you are responsible enough to stoop down the beam for others. happy motoring.
NOTE: since the lighting coil is disconnected and no longer used, all that was connected before will be redirected to the battery being battery operated.

I'm using a wave100, which i believe it has an AC CDI. If i will convert it to full wave R/R do I need to change the CDI to DC?
ReplyDeleteyou do not have to convert the ignition from ac to dc..just leave the High Voltage windings ground intact to that ground slug of the generator, Charging coil and high voltage coil do share a common ground. Isolate the charging ground only and float it or remove it from that ground tab...that's it.
Deletejust converted my wave100 two days ago. Full wave RR is really working great..
Deleteglad it works for you, share it to others so that they can enjoy their High Intensity Discharge installed on the motorcycles.
DeleteSir can you please explain or teach me how to convert my wave 100 stator??thnks and advance sir
DeleteSir can i convert barako 175 to fullwave??
Deletemy convertion is success but my meter reading is 15.2 max (sometimes it goes 15.4) is it safe? please notice me :)
Deletewhere i can find full wave rectifier...
ReplyDeleteyou can buy it at any of your friendly motorcycle shop, just ask for the full wave type 5 wire voltage regulator.
ReplyDeleteThank you..
convert your charging system to full wave then use 7aH battery instead of your existing 4ah battery.

very pleased to know it worked for you, kindly share to others within your country for them to experience the greatness of modifying the stator for HID installation problem free. Thanks for the VIDEO too, and if u do not mind will add your video to this site
ReplyDeletetnx...goody of cebu
yes you can but be adviseable that doing this full wave modification, your stator driven headlight and tail light must be converted to battery source.
ReplyDeletehalf wave, and if you are planning to convert it to an EFi then full wave is not enough, A 3 phase stator is needed to have a clean DC for the system.

ReplyDeleteWow you have provided step by step process of Installing High Intensity Discharge. It helped me a lot, thanks for sharing dear!! Well I am looking to purchase Honda generator eu3000is, could your provide some tips to select the best one.
ReplyDeletehello there nathan ?
ReplyDeletesorry for bad english. im from indonesia.
iam talking about the scr ? what the type of scr to make this regulator?
i have BT 151 SCR it can't place this or not, can't you explain more about SCR you make this regulator ?
and then the PNP transistor for this schematic, any pnp transistor it can't place with type like S8550 or BC327 ?
please answer my question for the complete schematic items.
Thank you
Hello Led Master,
ReplyDeleteThe schematic of the full wave regulator can be found here
http://mastercircuits.blogspot.com/2012/07/full-wave-regulator-schematic.html
yes you can use the BT151 SCR 500 or 600 and with the PNP transistor, it is 2L SMD code..which is as far as i am concern is part number 2n3906
hello there again nathan !!
ReplyDeleteand the resistor type is 1/4W or 1/2W ?
but iam only have 1/4W resistor. then i replace for 3.2K resistor with 3.3K resistor . such hard to buy the rate like 3.2K resistor ? can't it be replace or not ?
and the rectifier like schematic said MB254 ? but i have only rectifier 25Ampere but i don't know the maximum voltage !
so iam try so hard to make this schematic . so Thank You for sharing your knowledge !!
My motorcycle is Honda Wavedash110. in indonesia call Blade110.
LedMaster, resistor can be 1/4 watts, even those SMD type can be use. MB254 is a 25A 400V bridge of diodes, so you are at the right track.
ReplyDeletehi hello nathan . i'have question about the scr positioning ?
ReplyDeletethere 2 phase alternator can use for recharge.
1 . ex ground
2 . charging coil
if any wire from 2 charging coil from ground or from charging. it can't be swap or not ? maybe the yellow goto ex ground and pink goto charging ?
in my problem scr BT 151 they burn after 10 minutes riding. i'dont use the heatsink for this circuit ?
but this my schematic would you be correction for it ?
maybe you found right for ex ground or charging . im confuse about this .
check this "http://s6.postimg.org/o83ji4iqp/untitled.png"
thanks before. please post this image again for correction for positioning ex ground and charging coil ?
LedMazter, question? Did you modified your stator before making this circuit and put it on your Blade 110. Remember that the regulator is for full wave converted stator, and not applicable to OEM or stock stator.
ReplyDeletesorry for bothering again ? he he ...
ReplyDeletefor the detailed for my stator . the ground and email wire that connect to the ground of stator, i remove it with solder , then iam connect to the new wire go out what is connect to 2nd charging , 1st charging cable is white ?
but i leave the yellow one wire that connect to stator .
the new wire out from ex wire iam connect to the new regulator full wave . then why my scr is hot and bridge rectifier hot to ?
maybe my problem is the tab lamp that connect to stator, but i leave it not connect anything... maybe that cause the scr hot ?
thanks again nathan i appreciate your schematic .
i found new circuit for full wave regulator . check this
https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UIc0LPHs2CA/VGTdO51Q07I/AAAAAAAAFwg/EZ9htMMI7_U/s1600/sekema%2Bkiprok%2Bhonda%2Btiger.JPG
LedMazter, do not connect anything on Yellow wire or lighting coil wire..if you do then you are grounding the stator back..
ReplyDeleteonly 2 wire will be use.
The stator must not have any connection to ground...
(test the two wire that comes out of your stator with Resistance tester, connect positive probe to any of the two wire, the negative to any metal of the engine. You should not get any reading..again NO VALUE)
bro nathan pls help me . for XRM125 stock regulator wires are WHITE from stator/YELLOW to light/GREEN ground/RED ignition sw. if i will use 5 wires regulator to convert it to fullwave what is the proper connection? pls need your help.
ReplyDeletethank you bro
Nicholas Maspara, you have to open the left crankcase to access the stator,
ReplyDeletethe green wire will be removed from the ground slug..(see this link http://mastercircuits.blogspot.com/2012/07/half-wave-to-full-wave-conversion.html)
(kailangang maalis ang ground winding sa stator kung san naka kunekta ang green wire..to make it a float ground..at yung dulo ng winding na yon ka magdudugtong ng wire palabas..or. un solder the yellow wire at i kunekta sa winding na inalis mo sa ground slug..)
yellow wire for lighting will not be used anymore para sa mga ilaw..lahat ng ilaw..kunektado na dapat sa baterya..(battery operated na lahat)..
NOTE: if u are still confuse with the procedure, u can visit my garage anytime and will do it for you in less time)
thank you bro but im here in bacolod city...what i mean is ,if im using a 5 wires R/R (red, black, yellow, orange, green) na R/R ang green(ground) hindi na magagamit? kasi tatangalin natin ang ground sa stator connect natin sa dulo ng winding? tama ba bro? kasi apat lang na wire came out from the stator while we using a 5 wires R/R .
ReplyDeletegusto ko nang mag convert naka HID ako need your help, thanks
Just for you..TATAGALUGIN ko..
red
black
yellow
pink or orange
green
red ay to positive ng baterya
black ay sa ignition switch mo (after the ON state or yung kuneksyon na pag nag bukas ka ng ignition mo ikakabit)
To make CLEAR things here..once you did not float the ground connection of the winding from the stator ground tab
ReplyDeleteSOMETHING WILL GO TO SMOKE!!!!
be sure you are aware of what you are doing for this modification is simply not for NAGMAMARUNONG lang..have a qualified electrician with you..NEWBIES...Thank you very much!!!
i am not responsible for any damage you have done in case you did it wrongly.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI need to Update my Stator 6 Poles AC to Full wave DC) from my Vespa S 50 2007.
I have Many wires :-(
Yellow
Blue
Green
Grey
White
Red ( external with generator coil)
How to Update this stator in Full Wave DC ?
Thank you
Matias
Hi Matias, is your S 50 vespa 2 stroke, i am not actually familiar with italian scoots, but nonetheless i am trying to look for at least a visual photo of your stator all thru the internet.
ReplyDeleteHello Nathaniel,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your reply and your HELP !
Normally for Full wave DC i need 5 wires : 2 yellow + White + Red + Green.. that's Right ?
Please see this 3 pictures of the REAL stator of my Vespa S 50.

Thank you again.
Matias
i send to you the wiring diagram of the Vespa

And the new Regulator/Rectifier Podtronics FULL DC BGM6698 (This remplace the older)
http://www.scooter-center.com/en/product/BGM6698
Thank you :-)
hello again sir Matias, first analysis, indeed you have 6 wires coming out from the stator area.
ReplyDeletered--this is the wire from the pick up coil, leave it intact.
white--this is your high voltage exciter coil for your ignition and definitely your cdi is an AC-CDI.
From the wiring diagram, hopefully it is intended for your vespa and what was written there goes to such item.
you have an oil check device installed on your regulator as well as the flasher unit for your signal light, so the stock regulator will remain, but then the other 4 color wires left is what make me very confuse.
Matias, is it possible to check with a Continuity tester between pin 1 and pin 2 (both gray color wire on the regulator if they are connected) pin 2 goes to your lighting..this wire will be omitted after the conversion.
the BLUE wire is what really make my head blown away, why in the world an AC is connected directly to your on board BATTERY?..
Can you kindly check the wire that is connected to the ground tab..(body ground of the stator? before we proceed. Thank you very much.
Hello Nathaniel,
ReplyDeleteThank you again .. so sorry i'm NEWBIE ! :-( :-( .. and sorry for my english)
SO ... See this new picture (Take in the manual Vespa S) You have all Colors wires for each connector
http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2015/01/26/150126010542687526.jpg
- In the middle image (MAGNETO FLYWHEEL CONNECTOR) the number 4 the color wire is GREY (NOT YELLOW-BLUE)
- The Ground in the Vespa Touch the chassis... The Ground in the stator is (i believe) in the body of the stator plate.
Thank you
Matias
probably this picture helps you
ReplyDeletehttp://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2015/01/23/150123034854874276.png
Tnx
Hi again Sir Matias,
ReplyDeletesorry for the late reply. Your vespa stator seems to have a common ground on all of the windings there, and may not be able to convert it for full wave, and at this time I am no help to you. I am trying to isolate the charging coil via all of your photo link attachment but it seems visualization is not enough. I need to have to get a hands-on job for a vespa stator to help you. So sorry mate.
thank it work for my raider j110. now i am satisfied with the charging,,..
ReplyDeleteThank you for your reply :-)
ReplyDeleteIf this is not possible ... I'll connect the HID from the battery.
Last little question ... (for last solution)
Exists a solution in my AC Circuit to have a smooth lights (Ultra Bright) in Headlight and Tail Light, instrumental panel and turn signal? (To have the same voltage in all lights all the time)
Because all the lights of the Vespa is not so bright When The bike running at low speed.
Matias
Good day mr nathaniel
ReplyDeleteI ask If possible the fullwave to mio sporty amore?and if possible and already install . I ask if the battery will not over charge because if day time no lights will use.. thank you
Hello i have a honda wave125i efi,can i do this fullwave?and do i have to buy something?
ReplyDeleteThank you very much
Good day to all of you.
ReplyDeleteSir Matias, your headlight, turn signal, instrument and tail lights all are powered by different AC coming out from the stator, and will only be bright when the vespa is at revs. If we are unable to convert it to full wave like the way I see it visually, redirecting all of those lights to the battery and adding HID to the system will surely just discharge it faster creating serious problem. if only Sir you are in my country, I will definitely will try to convert it personally for your needs
Mark Ian Lim if you will just follow what is written within the article of all the procedure with the testing after the conversion is done. It will not overcharge the battery.
Stabros bxs Did I saw EFI? we all know EFI needs a clean DC for it to function normally, and that is 3 phase full wave, Honda wave EFI as far as I have known was already using the 11 pole stator in a 3 phase manner so no need to downgrade it to full wave single phase.
Thank you mr. Nathaniel.. this article is very usefull... last question mr. Nathaniel, I can use any fullwave r/r 4pin or 5pin? Thanks again..
ReplyDeleteMark Ian Lim either 4 pin or 5 pin as long as it is a TRUE full wave regulator. 4 pin full wave regulator is almost exactly like the half wave regulator by external comparison, that is why I recommend the 5 pin or 5 wire type when buying it at your friendly motorcycle accessory store.
ReplyDeleteThank you mr. Nathaniel..Good health and more power.
DeleteI don't know but here in greece the honda innova (wave) is with carburator and the new are with injection (efi)..
ReplyDeleteBut i can't install xenon or led lamp as headlight because the lights flickering and as i give throttle the lights get brighter..also if the bike is not running the lights are off..
Stabros bxs Honda Innova 125 has two variant. Carb type which uses the single phase half wave electrical system and the EFI version which uses the 11 poles 3 phase full wave electrical system.
ReplyDeletesingle phase electrical system lighting flickers and brightens as you rev the engine. The light is powered by AC not DC.
3 phase full wave on the other hand, all lights are connected to the battery and they are all DC.
.mot2 ko i innova carb type..ung ilaw nya kumuha sa r/r..bali regulated dc na cguro or regulated ac?..ung voltahe galing coil is 20+ac..tanong kulang po..paano d nsusunog ung ilaw nya?...
DeleteOne more question mr. Nathaniel I can use my stock r/r by rearrange the wire to my stator of mio amore?to become fullwave stator only. The 3 wire white yellow and black from my stator instead I disoldered the yellow and place into the black position and black wire is removing.. I ask if I can do this senario the black wire pin change into yellow pin. And the yellow pin from stator I will cut only..less hussel but only wiring can confuse only If other they dont know. Please correct me if im wrong..
ReplyDeleteMark answer is NO. If you will not remove the ground of the winding from the metal body of the stator, the winding is still half wave. Please read the article again thank you.
ReplyDeleteOk sr. Thank you...
DeleteYes my bike is honda wave 125 but here in greece both carb and efi editions use the same DC.. So it has single phase electrical system lighting flickers and brightens as you rev the engine. The light is powered by AC not DC. So what i have to do to make it DC and install HID?do i have to buy anything?
ReplyDeletesame tayo mot2 bro...gnawa kong batery operated ung ilaw..gamit is osram bulb...ang problema ko ngaun ay d knkya ng charging pgmalapitan lng byahe kpag gabi..nauubos batery ko...sana may mktulong dito..
DeleteStabros bsx you have to convert the stator to full wave by removing the winding connection to the ground tab body of the stator.
ReplyDeletegreen wire is the ground wire for honda, look for where it was soldered, and the winding near it should be the one to be remove and a wire to be added that routes outside the case.
as of now you have three wires coming out
Blue with yellow line--pulser coil out
White is charging which will be intact.
try following the posted video above.
then, purchase a full wave regulator for motorcycle which will be compose of 4 wires namely 2 yellow or 2 white, 1 red and 1 black..
Hello again my friend, this is my.regulator..it has 6 pin! http://motoaharnis.gr/image/cache/data/2014-11-18/anorthoths%20innova%20injection%20DSC_0015%20(6)-1132x750.jpg

May idea na po ako how to modify my stator, pa
Thanks
Stabros bsx hello again friend, your stator connector is 4 pin and your regulator is 6 pin, your wiring diagram shows 4 pin for the regulator, the stator shows it is indeed a single phase half wave system. green is the ground wire, whereas one end of the windings is connected to the metal body of the stator.
ReplyDeleteEstregan good day to you sir, your motorcycle is an AC-CDI with external high voltage exciter coil..the green wire represents it. The black wire is your ground, you have to open the stator side and access the windings. One end of that winding is connected near that black wire and you need to desolder it leaving the black wire connected to the solder lug. After that you have to either extend the removed winding with a WIRE o the outside of the crankcase..You'll have then the BLUE wire plus the wire you placed outside as the TWO WIRE for the full wave regulator..(your existing regulator will be discarded and be replaced by a 4 WIRE full wave regulator)
Yes, got your instructions and pretty much know what to with the stator windings.
ReplyDeleteWhat i want to know is how do i connect my purchased 5 pin regulator /rectifier. Thanks
Estregan here is the link if the full wave you purchase represents the same color of wire
ReplyDeletehttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vmYlXBxXYNc/UBdeR8apb_I/AAAAAAAAA3w/CmXoh9ci6ek/s1600/Full+Wave+Regulator+schematic+2.jpg
Hi Nathaniel, I already saw the diagram. However, I am not sure how to apply it to the diagram of my scooter. Could you please tell me which color wire from the rr connects to which color wire in my diagram?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Estregan hello again sir, after completing the removal of the ground winding and putting a wire that goes outside..
ReplyDeletecheck this link.

Thank you.
Thanks, this confirms how i plan to do it. Will report back what happens after i try it.
ReplyDelete@nathaniel
ReplyDeletehello po.. ahm, meron po bang other way na ma full wave using the full wave r/r without modifyng the stator coil?
ReplyDeletesubcode there is no other way..u have to open that left side crankcase..(pag hindi mo tinanggal ang ground nung winding, grounded pa din ang stator, pag nag ikaw ay nag full wave...walang winding na nakadikit san man sa body ground..)
ReplyDeleteAdrian email me your contact number, click ABOUT above and select CONTACT ME
Please do not leave any number here thank you.
@nathaniel
doing so...may UUSOK surebol yon..
TIA.
ReplyDeleteHomer converting to full wave does not mean mainly for the purpose of High Intensity Discharge lighting system fitted in a motorcycle. It can also be applicable to thise who just need an extra boost on charging during engine idle. We all know when the conversion is done, all lights will be directly driven by your battery, and thus will add additional load in it. Just make sure the outgoing current being thrown by the battery on those lights will not be less than the current thrown in by the conversion of the entire charging system, Use AMMETER to check and for the process of how to connect, feel free to use the ALL FREE GOOGLE SEARCH.
ReplyDeletegood day sir, i convert a honda wave 125 from my friend ,i follow everything but something go wrong all wire get melted ,i'm wondering about it's stator coil, the resistance is twice as my wave 100 it reads around 2.5 ohms is that ok sir ,i already converted the stator to fullwave and i use a 5wire rectifier, thank you in advance sir for giving a comment, seanlight23@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteNathan i am sure your purchased regulator is FAKE, that is why all wire got melted.
ReplyDeletegudpm sir!
ReplyDeleteis this applicable to yamaha mio MX125??
gudpm nath, using an ohm meter , how do we know (test) that the RR is fake or not?
ReplyDeleteany testing procedure for the RR before we buy?
thank you very much
Hi, just want to report back that my full wave conversion for my LML was successfull, thanks to Nathan for being very helpful. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteSir, NEED HELP!!
ReplyDeleteI have honda scoopy classic scooter(carbutetor, not eletronic fuel injected). I DIY installed 4 hi-LED foglamps , 6 LED underglows, Tri-LED headlight, LED light instruments, hi-LED parking & brake lights, and third LED parking & parking lights in the givi box... I also replaced the horn to a more classic tone.
ISSUE: Whenever I turned on all lights, horn is weak and even stops working. Its working fine if fog lamps and headlight are turned off. Im really confused due to all lights are LED and have low wattages. All LED lights arent dim if all turned on, only the horn weakens or stops. All systems are converted to battery driven. Is the ampere of my battery not enough? What shall I do?
Some adviced me to get a so called "fast charger"... Others told me to remove or disconnect a certain wire in the rectifier/regulator to gain faster recharging(is this true? )... I dont know how, Im no mechanic nor a technician, just know the basics.
Anyone, please HELP!

Good day sir! Is there a possible way to convert raider 150 into a 3-phase full wave system? Tnx and more power! 09334059722
ReplyDeleteNa Na Is your charging system still at the stock or original configuration? If YES, then there is your answer to the problem. Kindly read all possible article on this site about motorcycle charging.
ReplyDeletechino possible but what is your primarily intention? Full waving the raider r150 is enough that is if you are planning or have plans on converting your entire ignition to EFI system then the 3 phase system is mandatory..
Good day Sir Nathan. Ask ko lang po, after getting the two ends of the stator ( which is the ex-ground and the original charging coil), does the center tab can still be used for additional charging purposes? If so, does it require a certain type of R/R? Tnx. 4 reply!
ReplyDeletechino the answer is NO, since you omitted the ground, center tap which is the yellow wire is already unusable.
ReplyDeletejust ask for a full wave regulator 5 pin at your nearby local shop. If they do not know that then the shop is not selling any.
ReplyDeleteFYI, there is no such thing as "madali" for even us who built and sell full wave regulator do mistake for not all stator are not created equal thus every motor have different regulator.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletegood day again sir nath! may itatanong pa po pala ako. kasi di po ba center tap ang stator dito sa tutorial nyo? 1 line for charging, center as body ground and last line for headlight. what if lagyan pareho ng diode yung line 1 and 3 then yun ang papuntang stock half wave rectifier? half wave line 1 + half wave line 2 = full wave. click here for the image
ReplyDeleteroy do not be mistaken with the full wave (2 diode) vs full wave bridge (4 diodes)..I know what you are thinking right now in lieu of that center tap winding.
ReplyDeleteAs far as i know, you cannot use the existing stator winding for full wave in either 2 diodes or full bridge unless you float the last end of the winding that is connected to ground..
I never experimented with the 2 diode full wave using the center tap as ground, for i have not seen any circuit with 2 Thyristor connected to the windings of the stator for clamping...
If you have any circuit available, why not share it here..for there are too many visitors all over the world, not only in the Philippines but worldwide viewing this..
The site is not a forum like MCP, but you can post everything you have in mind for others to see, as you do.
Thank you.

ReplyDeleteHow to test a regulator rectifier ?
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post; Battery is the only source that assists to prevent us from the power demanding time, so choice of your battery should give at least minimum power consumption so better to buy your batteries from the battery authorized dealers

How to fast charges
Then ung wire n galing sa stator eh itape mo nlng...
Yan ung first trick
I guess you did something wrong. Again, as i have been telling all of you before. Not a job of beginners. Check again and make sure your regulator is not a FAKE one.

ReplyDeleteSir good day sayo (NEWBIE HERE). How about my sniper mx 135, can i apply this fullwave rectifier/regulator? Does my MX single phase or 3-phase? i've got DC-CDI hindi po ba masisira eto if i converted to fullwave? What is the first thing to do? Soory sa dami ng tanong po....gusto ko lng po matuto then apply it to my MX. Salamat po ng marami.....
ReplyDeletesir san po ba ang shop or garage nyo? baka pwedeng makabisita at makapag pa full wave.. motor ko pala is honda wave 100r.. pde din po ba makuha number nyo sir? salamat po and waiting for your reply..

ReplyDeleteSIR NAKA CONVERT NA YUNG SCOOTER KO SA FULL WAVE KAPAG NASA IDLE STATE CIA IS 13.8V,AT KAPAG NAKA HIGH REV CIA HANGGANG 14.7V....ang tanong ko sir is ang brushless waterpump ba na dc motor na 12v hindi kaagad masisira since 12v lang ito.....?

35 watts yung hid. motor ko is motorstar nicess 110.
Thank you,,

ReplyDeletePano po iconvert yung stator ng suzuki smash 115 into fullwave? Thanks
ReplyDeleteIs this idea work also on my Fury 125 Kawasaki?
ReplyDeleteCESREP25
ReplyDeletethe only best way i know how to know the ground, the lighting coil, and the charging coil of your stator is by using an INDUCTANCE METER..this will ensure that you will get the right coil since the using resistance using Multimeter will be a puzzle for beginners.
Inductance meter is used to determine which coil have the larger inductance that will denote your LIGHTING COIL. Test will be in relation to ground.
Hi sir nathan.
Salamat
ReplyDeleteSir, my xrm rs 125 is converted tto full wave convertion with the R/R type 5pins, but the reading at idling with load is below 12 volts, can help me to trouble shoot the problem sir?
ReplyDeleteI have honda cb trigger 150CC I have installed bixenon projector to it I dont know whether my battery is being discharge at higher rate than its being charged as previously headlight was connected to RR and my RR output to headlight was -6V only, I have checked the output of stator as 50v at 3k rpm, to my surprise I have 4 wires coming out of stator one blue which is going to cdi one is ground and rest 2 are shorted and fed to RR as one wire other being ground, now i want to know whether my RR is fullwave or half wave. how can i go for full wave if its half wave...reply awaited..thanx in advance
ReplyDeleteRobin Gaba
ReplyDeletewhen one of the wire is actually connected to ground either engine body or common earth ground on your wiring, then it is considered a HALF WAVE SYSTEM since one of the AC out is connected to ground..
FULL wave has no ground connection at the AC side and the ground is taken out from the bridge rectifier (-) side.
using HID on a HALF WAVE system is automatically a FAILURE since there is no enough current to feed the battery for charging..The discharge rate of your HID is higher than your charging current.
Hi sir Nath, any suggestion po kung papaano ko malalaman ang isang regulator ay full wave using multi tester?
ReplyDeleteMay nabili po kc ako regulator nun etest ko using tester un green and pink ay shorted or meaning connected sila, it means from green wire connected to ground then punta sa pink para supplyan nya ng ground un stator to produce current from stator..
Any suggestion po....thanks

ReplyDeleteHi Nathan. Great work with the full wave vonversion. Any way I could contact you? Maybe add you on fb? I have a tvs xl100, indian made bike. Kick started, no battery, everything runs from the magneto. Lights flicker at idle and goes dim when multiple loads are on, light brake lights, horn , or turn signal. I was planning to convert its whole electrical system to include a battery to eliminate this problem of not having enough power to run multiple loads at a time. Any help would be much appriciated! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteusefull info
ReplyDeleteRonnie, what seems to be your problem. Everything you want to know are all here.
ReplyDeleteHi Mr. Nath, good pm. Question for wave 125 i. there are three wires on the stator po, so what I will do is remove the ground and the yellow wire connection to the stator then connect them to each other. Is that right po? Thanks po.

ReplyDeleteHi Nath,
good day, ask ko lang kung meron ka idea sa status stator ng MIO MX125 "CARB TYPE" kung single phase/fullwave ba? if incase single phase, connected ba sa body ground ang isang dulo ng winding? thanks
Sir Nath...after a year nakahanap din ako ng original fullwave regulator sa caloocan...ngaun naka fullwave na xrm ko...very satisfied na ako sa sariling gawa ko following all instruction from you...salamat po ulit
ReplyDeleteanong brand gamit mo sir?
Yan gamit kko pang fullwave.
ReplyDeleteHello to everyone, sorry for the very late reply to all of you, been very busy and with the changes of google about their configuration. I thought of losing the blog, but i will try my best to still carry on with this site.
ReplyDeleteI am asking for your understanding, that I do no longer do full waving and all the supposed to inform you about it are all here.
Kristopher Palmes uses the SKYGO regulator. True that it is full wave regulator, and if so happen you are looking for one. try the one he used. aside from that, almost all shops locally offer full wave regulators, just go for those legit ones okay!!..Thank you very much. Have a nice day readers.
Hello Sir Nathan,
ReplyDeleteRegarding headlight connection on BeatFi, is it battery driven or still stator driven ?
Thank you...
Sir..im using an audio system to my tricycle...and im planning to convert my barako to fullwave..is it guarantee that my 2sm batt.wil no longer out of charge?
ReplyDeleteHello Master . I have 3 phase RR. It has 3 yellow wires and 1 black and 1 Red.
ReplyDeleteCan i use this for Honda Wave 125 after stator modification is done? My question is will it be problem if one wire from 3 phase yellow is left alone, and other two wire is connected to stator?
Mohamed
ReplyDeleteI do not think it will work. since 3 phase stator are categorized in two. one is DELTA configuration, and the other is a STAR or WYE...so you must be thinking of just connecting each end of your WAVE125 stator to any of the 3 yellow wire. you will just FRY something in there.
how can i use this for honda cd200 6v system ?
ReplyDeleteSir, a little correction.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are misleading, in that the stator wiring is not fullwave nor halfwave. The wirings are either FOR fullwave rectifier or halfwave rectifier. It is not the stator wiring. We try to match the stator with the fullwave R/R or halfwave R/R. Although it looks as end to end or tapped, still, its output is AC, which do not have fullwave or halfwave. It is only DC which has fullwave or halfwave. The misled reader are obviously responding with the understanding that the stator is fullwave or halfwave, and not FOR fullwave R/R or halfwave R/R.
Half wave pertains to the conversion of AC to DC with one end of the power source connected to ground. The stator in a half wave configuration. One end of the coil is connected to the metal part of the assembly and thus act as chassis ground.
DeleteFull wave pertains to a conversion of the AC source to DC to where the ground is isolated to the main power source aka your Stator and their end to end coil winding is connected to a FULL BRIDGE DIODE.
If that mislead you as you'd say, then you do not know what you are doing then. So better stop messing around or you'll FRY something may it be your stator or your Motorcycle Voltage regulator. Cheers!
Sir, a little confusion here.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether or not my motorcycls's stator is already a full-wave or a half-wave regulator. Basing on the wiring diagram presented here on comparing a HALF WAVE to a FULL WAVE system, I find it confusing since on my motorcycle's service manual (the wiring diagram), it says that my stator already has a floated ground by default.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/162322266@N03/49704361502/in/dateposted-public/
that link is where I posted the said wiring diagram from my service manual. I just traced the wiring with yellow and black.
I would like some enlightenment here before I try to do those procedures above on my motorcycle. Btw my motorcycle is a Suzuki Smash 110, 2005 model (FD110XCD)
Good Day Sir, ask ko lang sir kung Same as full wave po ba ang nabili ko na 5 Pins Rectifier, Rusi 125, but the wire color is different from the wire color of your Recfier use as your demo unit, insted of Green, Red, Yellow, Pink & Black ang wire color ng nabili ko are Green, Red, Yellow, Pink and red/white. Now i ask kung un po ba red/white eh same function din nong "Color" black sa demo unit na ginamit mo?, un po ba red/white ang i-connect ko after ignition?. Salamat po and GOD BLess
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell if that is a legit full wave regulator..We know china parts are somehow sometimes misleading, they changed the color of wires for unknown reason. The only help I can give you is trial and error. follow the same procedure.
DeleteSir, safe to assume pa na pag fuel-injected na or pag may ECU, fullwave na po yung charging system niya?
ReplyDeleteYes, it said to believe that any Fuel injected ignition motorcycle available are equipped with a full wave charging system to ensure that the ECU is safe and efficient.
DeleteHi Sir,
ReplyDeleteI'm seeking a solution to my honda dream excess wiring problem with the pushtart button and its wiring, i bought a new top cover headlight with dashboard set and odometer, unfortunate it has no wiring provided for the pushstart button and directly compared it to my replaced dashboard and it has yellow with red line wire and solid green wire. I decided to put and provide two wires into it (pushstart button) which is yellow/red and green wire. My question is where am I connect the solid green wire?
Your response is highly appreciated.
Thank you so much.
Bong
Sorry for the late reply have not updating this since. I have no idea since I had none on hand of a Honda Dream Excess motorcycle nor seen any. I suggest you seek the Honda CT70 or CT90 wiring diagram, they may be the same.
